Program
Tour of Harm A. Weber Library and
Academic Center at Judson University

Come see why
this LEED©
Gold rated building is called the perfect combination of form and
function. It is a masterpiece of technical engineering and innovative
design. The new Harm A. Weber Academic is a $25 million, 88,000 square
foot facility that joins the central library with academic spaces for
the Division of Art, Design and Architecture.
The first and foremost innovation of this facility is the use of Natural
Ventilation. Built primarily of concrete, the building draws cool air at
the lower level, circulates this air throughout the facility and
ultimately exhausts the air through roof termini. The building’s energy
consumption achieves US record lows for this climatic zone. Other
sustainable design features of the Weber building include abundant
day-lighting, site development, and ecological landscaping.
Representatives from the Precast / Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI)
will be present to answer questions and explain the role of precast
concrete in making this building a regional model for energy efficiency.
Attendees will gain a detailed understanding
of an approach to mixed mode natural ventilation and the value of
sustainable design.
