I-Joist Manufacturers Association
recommendations to ensure adequate lateral bracing of a dropped garage
door header. The industry recommendations were developed through
laboratory experiments.

Mike Perakis, PE
Mike Perakis is a Structural Frame Engineer for iLevel, by Weyerhaeuser.
He works in the northeast quarter of the United States, providing
engineered lumber product solutions to engineers, architects, designers,
builders, lumber dealers and homeowners.
Mike specializes in innovative solutions to uncommon building
challenges, repairing damaged framing materials and training in the
engineered lumber products industry. Mike is also an engineering tester
for the company's numerous software programs and design packages. He
earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from from The
Ohio State University in 1993.
