Description:
Savannah College
of Art and Design (SCAD), the largest art and design college in the nation,
offers an opportunity to head its Building Arts division. A visionary and
experienced Dean will assume leadership of 55 faculty and nine staff and
will coordinate curriculum development and formulate academic policy in
Architecture, Historic Preservation, and Interior Design programs that serve
500 students. Reports to the Vice President for Academic Services.
The new Dean will have a
unique opportunity to participate in an already successful program to
preserve historic Savannah.

Qualifications:
Proven talent for fiscal
management that recognizes both opportunities and constraints inherent in
budgetary adjustments as well as an ability to be an advocate for Building
Arts within the SCAD system; to articulate the role of Building Arts to SCAD
audiences from the region, the state, and at the national level. Enthusiasm
for leadership in external fundraising efforts; a recognition of the
value of the disciplines within the Building Arts is essential. The ability
to understand and enthusiastically articulate the mission and vision of SCAD
is necessary. |

Education:
Preferred is a Ph.D. in a related area or a Master’s degree or equivalent
with substantial field and educational experience including 4 to 10 years
experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Special consideration may be given to candidates with
architectural experience. |
